In 2023, the Bouvier-Washer neighbourhood celebrated its centenary.

To mark the occasion, research into the origins of this garden district—unique within our municipality—had already been carried out several years earlier. A lecture on the subject was organised in 2021 and can be viewed again below.

Subsequently, guided tours of the neighbourhood were organised in 2022 and 2023. An information panel was also installed at the entrance to the neighbourhood to ensure that the memory of its past is preserved. The panel was officially unveiled by the mayor in the presence of the aldermen on Sunday 26th of March 2023.

A publication on this successful project is currently in preparation. Discover Kraainem is aiming for 2027 to bring this fascinating history to the general public in digital form.
