List of listed/designated heritage in Kraainem

Click on this link to view an Excel spreadsheet listing all the listed and protected buildings in Kraainem. The list is arranged in alphabetical order by street name. If you would like to find out more about a building, type ‘heritage + ID number’ (listed in column G) into your web browser’s address bar: you can then read the detailed description of the heritage building on the Erfgoed Vlaanderen website.

Listed heritage

Listed heritage is recognised as being of architectural, historical and cultural value and of public interest, and is closely monitored by the heritage authority (Erfgoed Vlaanderen).

Designated heritage

Designated heritage is recognised as being of architectural, historical and cultural value, but is less prestigious and of more local importance; responsibility for this heritage is entrusted to the local authorities.

Documented heritage

Some buildings are merely documented (in a scientific inventory) without further implications: this is the case, for example, with heritage that has disappeared (in Kraainem: the mills, the paper mill, etc.) or that has been so damaged or altered that designation or protection is no longer justified. This scientific inventory also focuses on certain historic transport routes or roads.
